LAUNDRY AIDE - LAUNDRY in ALLIANCE, Ohio at Aultman Health Foundation

The Linen Distribution Aide is responsible for loading and unloading of bulk linen carts, sorting, and folding linen, loading of delivery/exchange carts, and delivering them to various departments throughout the building. The Linen Distribution Aide also stocks the linen and scrubs shelves, gathers the soiled linen, returns the linen to the basement soiled utility room in a safe as well as cost-effective manner and washes then dries the Nursing home residents' personal linen. The Linen Distribution Aide ensures work areas are maintained according to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures.

The Laundry department provides services within a hospital setting, consisting of patient rooms providing in-patient out-outpatient care as well as the nursing home areas.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of methods and techniques of handling equipment, materials, laundry and supplies.

Basic mathematical principles.

Prioritization and problem solving skills for practical problems stemming from a variety of situations on a day-to-day basis where limited standardization may exist.

Interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.

Skill to independently operate material handling equipment, including but not limited to hand carts and linen tug cart (manual and motorized.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Excellent customer service, computer, and communication skills.

Work independently with minimal supervision.

Possesses flexibility as well as adaptability to new situations, procedures, and routines.

Delivers linen carts from the Laundry Department to the floors or other areas as required; Carts may weigh up to 400 lbs to 600 lbs.

Loads exchange carts with linen from the bulk carts.

Hand folds or stacks linen when necessary.

Gathers dirty linen from soiled utility rooms.

Operates tugger in a safe and effective manner.

Washes and dries hospital owned linen and Nursing home residents personal clothing.

Reports all mechanical issues with equipment.

Communicates professionally with multiple levels of staff and maintains positive work relationships.

Utilizes infection control/isolation techniques and P.P.E. as appropriate.

Demonstrates accountability and commitment to coworkers.

Performs materials receipt and distribution activities.

Addresses issues in a timely manner.

Observes Aultman Alliance Community Hospital dress code and wears identification badge.

Willing to work rapidly and accurately to meet customer and patient needs.

Provides information and assistance to staff members in a helpful, courteous, and timely manner.

Category I - Includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.

Category II - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues by exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate protective measures will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks.

Category III - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood; body fluids or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.) Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
