As a Pre-Op/Post-Op RN at the Surgery Center at Westpark, you'll work alongside surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team to provide safe, compassionate care before and after surgery.

Shoreline Orthopaedics is seeking a Pre-Op/Post-Op Registered Nurse to join the team at the Surgery Center at Westpark in Zeeland. This RN is responsible for providing skilled and compassionate preoperative and postoperative nursing care, including continuous patient monitoring and early recognition of potential medical or surgical complications. The RN works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team to coordinate perioperative care and maintain high standards of professional nursing practice.

Schedule: Three 10-hour shifts per week. Scheduled shifts will vary based on department needs and may include:

· 5:45 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

· 6:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

· 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

• Plan, organize, document, and evaluate nursing care throughout the Pre-Op and Post-Op phases of the patient's surgical experience.
• Admit and prepare patients for surgery and safely discharge patients following their procedures.
• Obtain and monitor vital signs, perform focused patient assessments, and recognize abnormal findings or deviations from expected recovery.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the anesthesia provider and/or surgeon and assist with appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and perform IV starts as appropriate.
• Complete Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) calls, gather pertinent patient information, and follow up on required clearances, testing, and lab work.
• Verify that appropriate preoperative testing and documentation are completed and reviewed before surgery.
• Provide patients and caregivers with postoperative instructions and education before discharge.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records while protecting patient confidentiality.
• Practice appropriate infection-control measures and maintain patient safety throughout care.
• Anticipate patient needs before, during, and after the surgical event and assist with emergency measures when necessary.
• Provide reassurance and support to patients and their families to help reduce questions, stress, and fear associated with surgery.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, nursing staff, and other members of the surgical team.
• Help facilitate the timely progression of scheduled surgical cases.

• Education & Licensure: Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing and a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
• Experience & Certifications: A minimum of 12 months of Pre-Operative and/or PACU experience is preferred. BLS and ACLS/PALS certifications are preferred.
• Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing care, postoperative recovery, potential surgical complications, and appropriate nursing interventions. Must be organized, flexible, adaptable, and able to remain calm in a fast-paced surgical environment. Strong assessment, communication, patient education, and computer skills are important for success in this role. Proficiency with IV starts is also expected.
• Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend throughout much of the shift, including extended periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift supplies weighing up to 30 pounds, push or pull equipment and supplies weighing more than 30 pounds, and assist with lifting, moving, or positioning patients. The position also requires appropriate dexterity, coordination, visual and auditory acuity, and the stamina necessary to perform patient-care responsibilities throughout the shift.
