Electrical Engineer in Thief River Falls, Minnesota at Arctic Cat

Arctic Cat is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineer - Technologist at our Thief River Falls, MN location. This role is responsible for the design and development of powersports vehicle and engine electrical and electronic systems and components. The role focuses on electrical design using 3D CAD modeling software, including in-chassis wire harness routing. The ideal candidate will also have a solid understanding of the manufacturing and quality control processes related to electrical and electronic systems.

Arctic Cat markets its Snowmobile, ATV and SXS products through a network of independent dealers located throughout the United States and Canada and through distributors representing dealers in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Asia and other international markets.

Responsibilities:

• Design, development, and test electrical and electronic systems including motors, electronic control units, switches, relays, wire harnesses, electronic displays, and lighting for snow and offroad products.
• Prepare and design layouts, components, and detail drawings using 3D modeling software (Siemens NX) and release into PLM system.
• Work with managers, engineers, and other personnel to establish functional specifications, test standards and engineering design requirements for new or revised designs for electrical systems and components.
• Stay abreast of the latest electrical developments and new technologies.
• Manage project timelines and budget to meet program milestones and requirements.
• Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and create test and analysis plans for product validation.
• Plan and manage component and system-level validation testing.
• Document and communicate engineering changes to other departments.
• Participate in cost reduction initiatives for components and fabrication processes.
• Follow product development processes and methods for tracking project status and open issues.
• Must be a “Hands On” – willing to build prototypes and work on vehicles as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement of current product line
• Support the development of service manuals and part books.
• Perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required
• Years of Experience: 2 or more years of experience required
• Software Knowledge: Matlab, Microsoft Office applications, UG/ CAD/ Teamcenter
