Job Description

Position Title

Classroom Coach

FLSA Status

Project Director

Primary Purpose

Provide direct support to K-12 teachers in curriculum delivery.

Essential Duties

  • Provide in-class coaching and training in lesson delivery, assessment and alignment to standards within a strong cultural context;
  • Support the teachers to build strong pedagogical skills within the teacher force;
  • Keep current on the data team agreements and support the teachers to implement them;
  • Collaborate with school administrators and Project Director on scheduling professional development and classroom visitations;
  • Provide orientation on the culture of Kohala and support to new Complex teachers;
  • Attend weekly meetings with site team.

Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

  • 20 – 40 hours per week; hours to be variable depending on the needs of the project and as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor;
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
  • Some events on evenings or weekends may be required.

Working Conditions

  • Office setting;
  • Traveling in personal vehicle to and from Kohala Complex schools.

Equipment Use

Computer and lap top, projector, office and/or work cell phone/Bluetooth, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine.

Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands

Mental:

  • Consistent adherence to the practice of PIDF’s five core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to focus on multiple tasks;
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving.

Physical:

  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

Communication:

  • Exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;
  • Good oral and written communication skills required;
  • Ability to be assertive and tactful in communication on a one-to-one basis and/or small groups.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required;
  • Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred;
  • Knowledge and experience in research-based teaching pedagogy and lesson development required;
  • At least five (5) years of experience in education with field experiences in teacher mentoring/coaching required;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily collision per person and $25K in property damage liability.
