Position summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will collaborate with the senior leader of HR on the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including recruiting, interviewing and hiring staff, onboarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Core duties and responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions and Evergreen roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Begins the facilitation of onboarding of new employees, audits, and maintains employee HR files.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Meets with members of Licensing to review HR files during Licensing visits or upon request from Licensing.
- Performs routine administrative tasks in support of the HR department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flexible work schedule and remote work possible with Senior Leader of HR approval. Longer hours, evenings and weekend work will be necessary occasionally.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of related HR experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) or more years of Non-profit experience or similar industry preferred.
- SHRM certification a plus.
