Position Summary:
This position reports to the Public Works' Facility Maintenance Supervisor and performs manual and semi-skilled work in the cleaning, minor maintenance, repairs, and other department assignments to assist with overall department operations.

Essential Functions:
Operates under limited supervision in the servicing and cleaning of City owned facilities
Clean, Service and restock restrooms
Gather and empty trash.
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
Assist in the set-up, arrangement, or removal of decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
Assist with facilities maintenance in the maintenance and repair of the City's buildings, including painting, general carpentry, flooring, renovations, moving furniture, drywall, and roof repair.
Maintains equipment in a clean and operating condition.
Reports for work for on-call after-hours needs, as assigned.
Inspects and maintains assigned equipment.
Completes work orders, daily activity reports, inspection reports, and time sheets; maintains maintenance and service records/logs, and other pertinent information.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
Knowledge of City policies, procedures, and practices.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to work under direct supervision; take responsibility for quality and timeliness of work; respond to unplanned requests; complete assigned tasks and report progress; demonstrate behavior consistent with Department direction.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with the public.
Ability to take control of situations in a responsible manner.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Ability to lead other team members.
Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and ability to work flexible hours to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays due to adverse weather conditions, construction projects, or other emergency services.
Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications:
High School Diploma/equivalent
Possession of a valid State of Tennessee Driver's License.
Experience in Janitorial/Custodial preferred
