Job Description

Build Your IT Career with Johnson Automotive!

Johnson Automotive is looking for a motivated, tech-savvy individual to join our IT team as an IT Field Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning their career in information technology, including recent graduates or individuals with technical training who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment.

In this role, you'll work alongside experienced IT professionals to install, maintain, and troubleshoot the technology that supports our automotive dealerships. From setting up computers and workstations to assisting with network infrastructure and resolving technical issues, you'll gain exposure to a variety of systems and technologies.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes initiative, and is excited to learn. You don't need years of professional IT experience to succeed here. A solid technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and a dependable work ethic are what matter most.

What You'll Do
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and other IT equipment.

  • Set up workstations and connect devices to company networks.

  • Assist with installing, testing, and maintaining network cabling and wireless access points.

  • Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Install and replace computer components, including memory, hard drives, and peripherals.

  • Assist with installing and maintaining security cameras and other dealership technology.

  • Set up and manage user accounts for various applications and systems.

  • Work with the IT team to respond to technical support requests across dealership locations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations, equipment changes, and completed work.

  • Follow IT security practices, safety procedures, and company standards.

What We're Looking For
  • Foundational knowledge of computers, hardware, operating systems, and basic networking concepts.

  • Technical education, coursework, certifications, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

  • An interest in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and learning new technologies.

  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or seek guidance.

  • Dependability, professionalism, and a willingness to take initiative.

  • A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under company standards.

  • Willingness to travel between dealership locations as needed.

Previous professional IT experience is not required. Experience gained through school projects, internships, personal computer builds, technical training, or similar activities is welcome.

CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications are a plus, but not required.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on, field-based position supporting multiple Johnson Automotive locations. The role involves moving and installing computer equipment, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in areas such as under desks, on ladders, or in equipment spaces.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support business needs.

Why Johnson Automotive?

At Johnson Automotive, technology plays an important role in keeping our dealerships operating efficiently and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

As part of our IT team, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical abilities, work with a variety of systems, and build valuable experience in a dynamic, multi-location business.

Whether you're completing your technical education, pursuing industry certifications, or looking for your first professional IT opportunity, we'd like to hear from you.

Bring your curiosity, your technical aptitude, and your willingness to learn. We'll provide the opportunity to put those skills to work.
