Within area of responsibility, collaborates with senior management, directors, physicians, nursing, allied health staff, patients and vendors internal and external to the health care environment to work through processes and situations. Decisions have impact on quality of services and care, fiscal results, attainment of goals and development and retention of employees.
- Provides leadership for and monitors operational goals, objectives and budgets for multiple similar departments.
- Responsibilities include planning of budget, monitoring of revenues, patient care indicators and manage operating costs.
- Communicates, organizes, prioritizes, leads, facilitates, coaches and problem solves with reporting staff to ensure that goals, objectives, and budgets are met.
- Works cooperatively with other service line leaders to carry out and monitor new health care services and performance improvement initiatives. Positively and appropriately represents Carilion Clinic at public and professional meetings.
- Manages multiple departments, as well as designated administrative and support staff to assure cost effectiveness and achievement of goals and budgets.
- Plans the implementation of directives, standard policies and procedures and protocols as approved by senior management or the board of directors.
- Plans for growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources. Utilizes developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
- Provides staff opportunities to develop their maximum potential through professional growth and development including orientation in service programs and effective performance improvement systems.
- Responsible for operational plans and fiscal management including budget development, implementation and monitoring for multiple departments.
- Responsible for supporting service line mission and meeting goals and scorecard objectives utilizing a system approach. Aligns work with strategic goals. Responsible for assuring compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent 8 years of experience required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience: 5-7years experience in management, preferably health care environment.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensure and/or certification in medical or management related discipline.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence. Proven skills in clinical, operational and human resource management, including staffing, planning, performance management, team work and process improvement
