Job Description

The CPLC De Colores Shelter team is hiring on-call Support Partners to join our team! This role is on-call and hours will vary based on program coverage needs. On-call shifts may include weekends and/or holidays.


ABOUT CPLC DE COLORES SHELTER
CPLC De Colores provides a safe, secure place for families to heal from the traumatizing effects of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Shelter and community-based services meet survivors where they are to help them discover their strengths and regain their freedom.

The De Colores Shelter provides emergency housing, case management, legal and housing support, support groups, transportation, youth services, housing and employment support, and referrals to other resources. We offer nurturing spaces for survivors and their families to heal, including a meditation room, a garden, and a special area for youth activities.


POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for covering shifts that need coverage if staff is not available. Responsible for the daily functioning and maintenance of the shelter during the shift. Assisting with basic client needs.

During an on-call shift, the Support Partner may be asked to

  • Provide on-the-spot support to clients with their daily needs
  • Supervise the shelter to ensure safety for clients and the facility
  • Drive company vehicle for donation pick-ups and sort daily donations
  • Support the kitchen in meal preparation and donation sorting and organization as needed
  • Respond to fire or other emergencies or medical crises
  • Move objects up to 50 pounds (donation boxes, food drop-offs, furniture, supplies etc)


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Able to work with clients who experience domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) required
  • Current Drivers License and able to drive vehicles such as cargo vehicles for donation pickups
  • Experience in working in a commercial or community style kitchen preferred
  • Able to move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in an active environment with diverse communities
  • Must have current food handler card or ability to obtain one
  • Must have current Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to have within 60 days of employment
