About This Position

Description:

Position Summary: Accord Federal Services, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Engineer to join our team at the Oak Ridge Reservation. This role is ideal for recent graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering who are eager to apply their knowledge and skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. The Junior Engineer will work under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers (PE) and program management staff, contributing to the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure projects.

Location of Position: Oak Ridge, TN

Key Responsibilities:

Must be agreeable and comfortable working in a firm where employees share many responsibilities. The ideal candidate would be able to work multiple disciplines such as Operations, Project Management, Safety, Task Management, Equipment and Facility Maintenance, and Disaster Recovery.


1. Design and Analysis:

· Assist in the development of design plans for infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.

· Perform calculations and analyses to support engineering designs, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

· Generate Work Plans and other programmatic documents, vet and work with subcontractors for quotes, prebrief the work to be performed, monitor and control the work, and complete required documentation.

· Use Geographic Information System (GIS), computer-aided design (CAD) and other software to create detailed engineering drawings and plans.

2. Project Oversight and Inspections:

· Conduct regular inspections of infrastructure and facility systems to ensure proper maintenance and identify areas for improvement.

· Provide oversight of subcontractors ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety regulations.

· Monitor ongoing site operations and performance for quality, safety and environmental compliance and be prepared to stop work and or adjust work requirements to maintain a safe workplace.

· Assist in the preparation of inspection reports and documentation.

3. Project Support:

· Provide technical assistance to infrastructure and facility systems, supporting program staff on projects.

· Assist with material procurement, project scheduling, and implementation.

· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project specifications and schedules are met.

4. Compliance Management:

· Ensure adherence to building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards related to operations.

· Assist in the development and implementation of safety and environmental protection plans, including Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.

5. Documentation and Recordkeeping:

· Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, repairs, equipment details, and system updates.

· Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

6. Professional Development:

· Participate in continuous professional development activities, including training sessions and workshops.

· Work towards obtaining Engineer in Training (EIT) certification within one year of employment.

Requirements:

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other program staff and vendors.

· Proficiency in GIS and CAD software and basic computer skills.

· Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to obtain EIT certification within one year of employment.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

· Previous internship or co-op experience in engineering or related fields.

· Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations related to infrastructure projects.

· Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices.

· Experience with project management software and tools.


General Requirements:

· US nationality/citizenship and residence, with verbal and written fluency in English.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in the company's random drug test program.

· Clean background check dating back seven years and ability to obtain and maintain a clearance badge.
