Position Details

The ‘Mold Technician/Operator’ responsibilities include the following: Setting up injection molding machines and all related equipment to allow the manufacture of product that meets or exceeds the established quality levels. Able to set up and program Ranger robot systems. Pulling molds from injection molding machines.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform quality checks twice per shift or as needed to ensure the highest level of quality.
• Set up the molding machine and all related workstation equipment to process customer orders as necessary.
• Prepares for the mold changes by staging and assembling all necessary items to complete the set-up.
• Assures the correct support equipment and supplies are available at start up.
• Assists in establishing process parameters and helps assure that the process remains in control using the quality monitoring systems on the MIM machinery.
• Assists in troubleshooting molding and or assembly issues to maintain part quality and meet standard production rates as needed.
• Assists in entering Downtime and Set Up information into Production Documentation sheets.
• Assists with all material handling functions such as material movement to and from the press, cleaning of grinders and molds.
• Is observant and attentive to the condition of all equipment.
• Meets with the previous shift Set-up Technician to discuss any and all issues relating to the shop floor.
• Follows all departmental operational procedures relating to the set-up, operation, and shut down of jobs.
• Thoroughly understands and exercises the authority to quarantine suspect product and seek disposition as necessary.
• Is observant and attentive to tooling, production, inspection, and support equipment that may cause a potential quality problem and seeks assistance in making corrections.
• Ensures that the molding machine and workstation is properly set-up per the instructions found in the molding work instructions.
• Performs special duties and or projects as assigned
• Able to assist in Furnace repair all de-bind and drying equipment Chiller systems and air compressors.
• Assist in other work areas as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous Mold Tech Experience Required – MIM tooling and molding equipment, mold wear
• Mechanical aptitude
• Prior mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment working on machines, a plus.
• Ability to use various tools and instruments required for operations.

Working Environment and Conditions

• The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
• This position requires working in an internal manufacturing & external environment. Loud noise.
• Must be willing to work other shifts to cover for fellow technicians on occasion.
