Job Description

SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing and verifying physician orders, accurately dispensing medications, providing timely and accurate drug information and performing well-reasoned and appropriate clinical interventions to optimize patient medication therapy.

BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Healthstream Policy Manager.

Required to work with the Director of Pharmacy regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Pharmacy Department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of accredited school of Pharmacy; Bachelor Degree of Pharmacy or Pharm D.

Experience: One-year hospital experience preferred; will consider recent pharmacy graduate.

License: Current Arkansas Pharmacist license in good standing.

Other: Proven communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization. Attentive to detail, strong interpersonal skills, fosters a team environment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. Trained in general use of pharmacy computer systems.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Ability to stand and walk and sit for long periods of time, 4-8 hours per shift. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, squat, and kneel to pick up items from floor or on higher/lower shelves, and ability to lift and carry moderate loads up to 20 pounds with proper body mechanics. Requires repetitive use of hands and fingers (preparation of IV solutions, use of computer keyboard), and ability to finger, grasp, and feel objects. Must have a keen sense of hearing and visual acuity. Must be able to handle stressful situations with efficiency and composure, operate equipment required to perform pharmacy department tasks, work with numerous interruptions, and perform independent work. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Ability to concentrate for long periods of time.

Work Environment
Office setting, within a hospital environment

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

10-hour shifts, rotating weekends, occasional evenings/ nights.
