As Chief Legal Counsel, you are a strategic, principled leader who brings sharp legal insight and sound judgment to complex challenges, enabling innovation while protecting the organization’s integrity and public trust. With a collaborative mindset and clear, confident communication style, you translate legal complexity into practical guidance for executive leaders, board members, and stakeholders. You lead with integrity, inspire high performance, and cultivate strong relationships across all areas of the organization, ensuring legal strategy aligns seamlessly with operational goals, governance standards, and public accountability.
What you will do:
- Shape and execute the organization’s legal strategy, offering sound, practical guidance on a wide range of legal matters to support operational and strategic goals.
- Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively, ensuring leadership and stakeholders are informed and aligned.
- Build and manage key external relationships, represent the organization in high-stakes forums, and oversee the work of outside counsel.
- Lead a high-performing legal team, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement across the department.
- J.D. and active membership in the Massachusetts Bar.
- 10+ years of legal experience in a public agency, law firm, or corporate legal environment with broad subject matter expertise.
- Deep knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, with demonstrated strength in legal analysis, drafting, and negotiation.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and mentor within complex, multi-stakeholder settings.
