Tool Crib Attendant at Abrams Airborne Manufacturing Inc – Tucson, Arizona

Position Description:

The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for managing and maintaining the tool crib inside the plant. This includes issuing tools and equipment to employees, maintaining accurate records of inventory, ensuring the proper storage and organization of tools, and performing regular inspections and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Competencies

• Proactively seeks solutions to improve tool crib operations and inventory management.

Essential Functions

• Set up tooling for CNC Machinists using job-tooling sheets.
• Pull set-up sheets and fixtures for jobs.
• Distribute tooling and fixtures to assigned machines.
• Prioritizes tasks to ensure timely completion and minimal disruption to production.
• Maintain adequate records for withdrawals of tools
• Manage the inventory of existing tooling to ensure minimum inventory levels.
• Inspect all tools for sharpness before being returned to the proper location.
• Sharpen all tools as required on equipment provided and make minor repairs.
• Separate dull tooling to be sent out for re-grinding.
• Order tools and tooling and ensure the best price, quality, and delivery.
• Maintain fixturing in a dedicated room.
• Pays meticulous attention to detail when recording inventory, issuing tools, and performing inspections.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a tool crib is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in a related field is a plus.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Familiarity with standard machine tool feed, speed, cutting depth, and expected tool lifespan is an advantage.
• A good understanding of all machines, hand tools, and measuring tools.
• Must be able to identify various metal machining cutting tools, composition, and coatings.
• Must have the ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.
• Must have intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Must be familiar with navigating the internet.
• Must be able to work 9-hour shifts and overtime as required.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Able to lift and or move up to 65 pounds.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
