About Us
The Kokatha People are the Traditional Owners of a large area of land in the northern region of South Australia, estimated to extend over some 140,000 km2. Traditionally the Kokatha people have been associated with the land that is to the north of Port Augusta, stretching from Lake Torrens in the east to the Gawler Ranges in the West. This includes the land surrounding BHP’s Olympic Dam operation near Roxby Downs and Oz Mineral’s copper-gold project at Carrapateena.
The Kokatha People decided to form this Aboriginal Corporation to be the prescribed body corporate and to become the registered native title body corporate for the determined areas pursuant to section 57(2) of the NTA and to manage the native title rights and interests of the Common Law Holders.

About the role
The team of Cultural Advisors are responsible for conducting cultural surveys, monitoring, clearances and communications to support culture and heritage activities. Providing expert guidance on matters related to the cultural heritage and rights in the context of native title claims and agreements.

- Ensure Kokatha Native Title and Heritage interests are recognised and protected, providing advice and support to clients and stakeholders.
- Provide in-depth cultural advice and support to clients and stakeholders in relation to Kokatha culture, traditions, and customary laws regarding Kokatha land
- Conduct cultural surveys, monitoring, clearances and communications to support culture and heritage activities
- Offer expert advice on the implications of Kokatha Native Title for cultural heritage protection, land management, and development projects.
- Ensure native title processes respect and integrate Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Kokatha Native Title, heritage, language, lore and culture.
- Commitment to the advancement of the interests of the Kokatha people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to engage with all stakeholders, and to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
- A sound level of computer literacy and Microsoft Office software.
- A current and valid drivers license (essential).
- Agree to undergo a police clearance (paid by Kokatha).
Successful applicants will be offered duties under a casual contract with varying rates depending on the duties rostered.
