Lab Services Team Lead DOW at Beacon Health System – Dowagiac , Michigan

Work involves coordinating the work of other Technologist and Technicians. In addition to performing the functions of Senior Technologist/Technician, this level is responsible for assigning and reviewing work, administering the quality control program, ensuring that schedule time frames are met, advising management of problem areas, assisting in employee actions, acting as liaison with other departments and customers on technical inquiries and test results.

Administrative:

• Answer telephones, maintain logs/records, organizational skills, proficiency with numbers, research information, time management, train employees, use computerized databases, written and verbal communications.

Machine:

• Personal computer.

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:

• Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.

• Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
• Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
• Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
• Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
• Complies with established organization and department policies.
• Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

License/Certification/Education:

• This position requires a Medical Technologist/Technician Degree or equivalent and city/state licenses or permits to qualify as a Technologist/Technician with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory.

Working Conditions:

• Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.

Physical Demands:

• Moderate physical effort (up to 30 pounds); must comply with applicable safety procedures.
• Additional job duty (as assigned): (Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace. The knowledge of personal protection measures.
