About This Position
Under the direction of the Director, Training Resource Center/Contract Education and Dean, Career Technical Training & Workforce Development, the Director of Smart Automation & Robotics is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, management, and delivery of customized, short-term workforce training in smart automation, robotics, and related emerging technologies. This position will cultivate partnerships with regional employers, lead recruitment and marketing efforts, oversee workforce training development, and manage technical training initiatives. Training programs may include employer-led projects, incumbent and dislocated worker upskilling, and train-the-trainer courses.
This position is a 12-month, full-time position.
This is a two-year, grant-funded position through June 30, 2027.

- Identify and pursue training contract opportunities with employers in smart automation, robotics, and related technology fields.
- Develop customized training proposals that address employer-specific needs and highlight the short-term workforce training capabilities.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with contracted employers to secure repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Monitor employer contract performance and ensure all obligations are fulfilled to the highest standard.
- Oversee the design, scheduling, and delivery of not-for-credit and contract training programs in smart automation and robotics.
- Manage all program logistics, including facilities use, instructional materials, equipment, and technology integration.
- Ensure workforce trainings reflect the latest advancements in automation, robotics, and Industry 4.0 practices.
- Actively engage with employers, workforce boards, and community partners to identify skill gaps and training opportunities.
- Represent the Training Resource Center at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote training offerings and build visibility.
- Recruit, onboard, and provide ongoing support for Training Resource Center trainers.
- Coordinate professional development and train-the-trainer sessions to ensure training quality and alignment with industry needs.
- Monitor program effectiveness through success rates, instructor/participant evaluations, and employer satisfaction surveys.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance program relevance, delivery, and outcomes.
- Develop and manage program budgets with a focus on profitability and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate program records, enrollment data, and compliance documentation for internal and external reporting.
- Prepare detailed reports for Training Resource Center leadership, funding agencies, and industry partners.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the long-term viability of the Training Resource Center.
