About This Position
Heavy Equipment Mechanics will be responsible for maintaining records of service and repair work on all trucks and equipment, as well as performing unexpected mechanical tasks as needed to minimize disruption of business. They are also expected to order repair and maintenance parts, stock items, and keep inventory records as needed. These mechanics will be able to identify and overcome issues that arise from mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, availability issues regarding repair parts and tools, and safety concerns as it relates to the fleet. Heavy Equipment Mechanics would be expected to assist with facility and grounds maintenance as needed and balance multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment. They may also travel to perform repairs and inspections on our job sites and may perform any other duty or assignment as may be required from time to time by their foreman.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Must be a dependable person who supports the entire company’s operations by maintain the truck and equipment fleet.
- Person must have above average knowledge of the mechanics of vehicles and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure any needed repairs are made.
- Proactively remove and minimize potential hazards as they are discovered.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Report complex mechanical problems for shop repairs.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions clearly and concisely.
- Have the ability to work well with others (AKA Team Player).
- Follow directives and meet deadlines.
- Always be prepared and willing to meet each challenge directly.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Have moderate computer skills
Physical Condition:
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities such as: heavy lifting and climbing, operating motorized equipment and vehicles, work in confined spaces, work at heights, work around heavy construction equipment.
- Maintain effective audio/visual judgement and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.
Physical Demands:
- Mechanic must be able to position self around, on, and under vehicles.
- Occasionally move parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
