Through a Traffic and Highway Safety grant and under the direct supervision of the Program Manager - Breath Alcohol Program
1. Coordinate all functions of the Breath Alcohol Instrument Service and Repair Laboratory.
2. Teach in the Breath Alcohol Instrument training program.
3. Assist carrying out the duties of the annual Impaired Driving Countermeasures grant.

Examples of Duties
Coordinate all functions of the Breath Alcohol Instrument Service and Repair Laboratory. - 70%
Teach in the Breath Alcohol Instrument training program. - 20%
• Teach any alcohol impaired driving countermeasures training or awareness programs and courses including, but not limited to: Type 2 Supervisor, Type 3 Operator, instrument certification and updates.
Assist carrying out the duties of the annual Impaired Driving Countermeasures grant. - 10%
• Assisting the Program Manager and other Impaired Driving Countermeasures ( IDC ) staff carrying out the annual IDC grant duties.

- Maintain breath alcohol instrument repair knowledge and certification of all State approved breath alcohol instrumentation, provided by the manufacturers and others.
- Participate in required certification and re-certification courses to maintain local and State certification requirements for position.
- Perform instrument service, repair &/or maintenance upgrades for all State law enforcement and regulatory agencies as needed or requested.
- Provide expert testimony for prosecutors and State officials on breath alcohol instrumentation when requested.
- Assist with the placement and monitoring of all field breath alcohol instruments.
Teach in the Breath Alcohol Instrument training program. - 20%
• Teach any alcohol impaired driving countermeasures training or awareness programs and courses including, but not limited to: Type 2 Supervisor, Type 3 Operator, instrument certification and updates.

Typical Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, Electronics, Chemistry or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- Two years law enforcement experience, or service and repair of electronic instrumentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or experience with impaired driving countermeasures.
- Demonstrated experience in adult teaching techniques and application
Licenses and Certifications:
- Missouri Type-II Supervisor certified, Preferred or within first 12 months of hire.
- Certified training on all MO-approved breath alcohol instruments, Preferred or obtained within the first 18 months of hire.
- Instructor development certification, Preferred or obtained within the first 24 months of hire.
- Certified in Indiana University's Borkenstein: Alcohol and Highway Safety course, Preferred or obtained within 24 months of hire.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Budget Responsibility: - 10%
