Position Overview

Eurasia Group is seeking an Associate Director, Principal Engagements to join the Office of Management. This role reports to the Chief of Staff and works primarily with Eurasia Group’s Vice Chairman, who is based in Canada.

The primary focus of this position is to provide high-impact executive support and substantive geopolitical expertise to ensure the Vice Chairman is fully prepared for Eurasia Group’s most important engagements with senior business and policy leaders globally. The Business Manager will also dedicate a meaningful portion of time to support the CEO’s top priorities, making this a high-visibility, cross-functional role at the center of the firm’s leadership.

The ideal candidate is a sharp, collaborative, and intellectually curious professional who combines strong geopolitical knowledge with exceptional organizational judgment, project management capability, and interpersonal skills.

This role could be based in either New York City or Ottawa, Canada. If based in New York, this is an in-office position. In Ottawa, you will be working remotely and be expected to meet with the Principal as circumstances allow. Periodic domestic and international travel will be required to support principal engagements.

Responsibilities

Support to the Vice Chairman (Primary Focus)

  • Ensure the Vice Chairman is prepared for high-priority engagements by coordinating background research, briefings, and inputs from across the firm.
  • Track the Vice Chairman’s priorities, deadlines, and follow-ups, and maintain alignment with firm-wide objectives.
  • Support commercial and official-sector prospect development, including coordinating outreach, preparing meeting objectives, and tracking next steps.
  • Draft and edit briefing materials, talking points, correspondence, presentations, and meeting summaries.
  • Coordinate scheduling and engagement logistics to support efficient execution and clear internal alignment.
  • Partner closely with the Vice Chairman’s administrative assistant to manage calendars, logistics, and preparation workflows.

Support to the CEO

  • Provide project support for time-sensitive priorities and strategic initiatives, as needed.
  • Coordinate inputs and drive follow-through across teams to support execution of CEO-directed workstreams.

Project Management & Executive Operations

  • Lead and support cross-functional initiatives by setting workplans, clarifying owners and timelines, and ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Manage shifting priorities and keep stakeholders aligned as needs change.
  • Maintain simple tracking systems for action items, decisions, and follow-ups to support effective executive operations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in international relations, political science, public policy, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in research, advisory, government, think tank, consulting, or senior executive support.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership in a fast-paced environment with high accountability and time constraints.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Strong grounding in geopolitics/international affairs and the ability to translate complex developments into practical implications for leadership and clients.
  • Familiarity with Eurasia Group’s research and client context preferred.

Analytical & Communication Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to move quickly across regions, industries, and topics.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with experience producing clear, structured materials under tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal communication and comfort synthesizing information for senior audiences.

Executive Support, Project Management, & Judgment

  • Proven ability to anticipate needs, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver reliably under time pressure.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills across stakeholders and teams.
  • High discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Interpersonal & Professional Qualities

  • Collaborative and relationship-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across levels and functions.
  • Comfortable engaging with external stakeholders in support of business development and relationship management.
  • Responsive, service-oriented, and credible in representing senior leadership.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaboration tools; familiarity with CRM and/or project management platforms is a plus.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $105,000 to $115,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
