Senior Business Relationship Specialist (BRS)

SUMMARY:
This role is dedicated to enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams, and building communities through expert level financial consultation, relationship development, and mentorship within an emphasis on business accounts, products, and services.
The Senior Business Relationship Specialist (Sr. BRS) serves as advanced, trusted financial professional with the knowledge and authority to manage complex business structures, mentor peers, and deliver sophisticated financial solutions for business account needs.
This position supports a robust portfolio of various lending and account types, including Commercial and Industrial lending, Commercial Real Estate lending, Private Banking, Business Banking, Small Business Administration (SBA), IOLTA, IRETA, property management, and trust accounts. The Sr. BRS provides advanced financial education and tailored recommendations, leveraging a deep understanding of credit union products, policies, and business member needs. Working in partnership with Business Services Relationship Officers, the Sr. BRS role proactively engages business member and applicant relationships through meaningful financial conversations, identifying opportunities, and strengthening long-term relationships through tailored guidance and coordinated solutions.
As a senior member of the BRS team, this role provides mentorship and leadership support in the absence of management, is a role model for the BRS, and plays a key role in advancing department goals, business member engagement, and Numerica's member-first culture.
This position may serve in a designated specialty account relationship support role (such a Commercial Lending team support, Private Banking team support, Business Banking and SBA team support), as well as regional support (such as Spokane, North Idaho, Central Washington, and other opportunities and regions that Numerica Credit Union expands to), to support strategic organizational priorities and evolving business member needs. These specialty pathways broaden functional expertise, enhance service capability, and strengthen Numerica's ability to deliver business and digital solutions. Participation in a specialization track reflects readiness for expanded responsibility, contributes to future talent development, and supports ongoing career mobility within Business Services and Numerica Credit Union.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Serve as a Business Services member relationship strategist, supporting relationship officers in partnership to manage and expand a portfolio of consumer, business, and high-value memberships.
- Partner with Relationship Officer to educate business members and applicants on available credit products, account options, and related services to support informed decision-making, referring to specialized partners as appropriate.
- Participate in business member and prospect calls as requested by Relationship Officers to provide operational support and subject matter expertise, ensuring a high level of member service and continuity of support as a secondary point of contact Perform core business account opening/maintenance functions and independently open and service specialty and complex business accounts, such as shells, IOLTAs, IRETAs, property management, and Tenancy in Commons (TICs).
- Support loan application processing on an as-needed basis, including member contact, documentation collection, coordination of loan closings (including title work when applicable), and communication of application outcomes.
- Coordinate the collection, review, and tracking of business financial documentation in alignment with loan requirements, partnering closely with relationship officer and credit teams to support the analysis and portfolio management process.
- Strong knowledge of business account and lending principles and documentation; collaborate with underwriters, loan specialists, leadership, and relationship officers to facilitate account approvals.
- Provide operational support and act as subject matter experts on policies, compliance, and risk controls.
- Support and guide BRS staff by mentoring, skills development, and coaching on advanced sales and business account techniques.
- Troubleshoot complex business member issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Perform core business deposit servicing functions while also managing specialized and exception-based requests, including rate adjustments, large dollar hold releases, and fee waivers, that require advanced knowledge and handling
- Maintains knowledge and adheres to all BSA regulations and compliance standards on internal and external policies, including but not limited to Beneficial Ownership and Member Identification Program standards.
- Assures business account documentation is compliant with both Numerica Credit Union and regulatory policies and guidelines. This includes verifying original loan documents that have been returned and are recorded appropriately.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no formal, direct supervisory responsibilities, although will work with leaders and peers in the organization to drive results.

Upholds regulatory compliance and procedural accuracy with minimal supervision. Represents Numerica's brand and values through professionalism, integrity, and community engagement.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus 5 or more years experience in opening and servicing retail and/or business accounts at a credit union, bank or other financial institution. A basic understanding of commercial credits is preferred along with a thorough understanding of Symitar.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Notary Public License is required; however, this may be obtained after acceptance of the position.
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to members, potential members, and other employees of the credit union.
- Ability to interpret complex regulations, policies, and procedures; write clear, concise reports and communications; effectively present information and respond to inquiries from management, teammates, and members.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, lead initiatives, and work independently.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to evaluate complex scenarios and make sound decisions.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and core systems such as Symitar.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and sit or stand for extended periods
