About This Position
Job Summary:
The Food and Nutrition Services Assistant supports the preparation, assembly, delivery, and service of meals to patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with dietary guidelines, physician orders, and hospital policies. The position ensures safe food handling, sanitation, and a positive dining experience for patients while assisting in daily kitchen operations.
- Assemble and deliver patient trays according to diet orders and menu selections.
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and serving in patient and cafeteria areas.
- Assembles and delivers nourishments for patients.
- Completes routine records and stats for the dietary department’s PI and Accountability reports.
- Fills requisitions for patient pantry stock as requested.
- Restock and rotate food supplies following FIFO (First in, First out) methods.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment as assigned.
- Assists with service, restocking, and short-order work for the cafeteria.
- Sets up for special function as needed.
- Answers and directs phone calls to the department.
- Communicate patient preferences and concerns to the Food and Nutrition Services Manager or Dietitian.
- Participate in department meetings, trainings, and quality improvement activities.

Hours: Full-Time. (3 x 12-hour shifts: Weekends & Tuesday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM)
Salary: Base salary of $19.49 – $22.24 per hour.

Experience:
- 6 months commercial cooking experience required
- 1 year in commercial food service preferred
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification/Skills:
- Serve Safe certification preferred
