Accounts Payable Specialist at FW Walton INC – Houston, Texas

The Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of vendor invoices and payments for F. W. Walton, Inc. This role supports job cost accuracy, cash management, vendor relationships, and internal controls within a multi-entity construction environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Accounts Payable Processing

• Receive, review, code and enter vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and approvals.
• Process weekly AP checks runs and ACH payments.
• Reconcile monthly vendor statements.
• Produce accounts payable reports including transaction activity reports, cash and check registers and review for accuracy.

Construction- Specific Duties

• Track and verify lien waivers prior to payment.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to resolve discrepancies.

Vendor & Record Management

• Maintain vendor set up, W-9s and 1099 reporting.

Reporting & Controls

• Support month-end close and audits

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Requires excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook and Word
• Sage 300 experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task in an office environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High School degree or equivalent; Associate degree preferred
• 3-5 years Accounts Payable experience
• Construction Industry experience preferred
