Position Summary
The QC Technician – Bar-Gun Secondary Machining is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of bar-gun handles during the secondary machining process. This role ensures all aspects meet engineering specifications, dimensional tolerances, and functional requirements prior to final assembly. The position is critical in preventing defects, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining Wunder-Bar’s quality standards.
* The work schedule is Monday through Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of bar-gun following secondary machining operations (e.g., drilling, tapping, reaming, deburring, polishing).
- Verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and fixtures.
- Inspect surface finishes, threading, and critical features to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct functional checks on machined components to confirm proper fit and performance requirements.
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming handles; ensure proper segregation and disposition.
- Collaborate with machining, production, and engineering teams to troubleshoot defects and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with first article inspections and in-process audits to validate machining setups and process consistency.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, and variation in machining processes.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in quality control within a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of secondary machining processes and tolerancing.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, pin gauges, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
