Position: Hospice Support Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Richland WA

Type: Full Time Non-Exempt

Anticipated Schedule: Mon – Fri 8:00 am – 4:30 pm one backup on call shift per month, minimum 2 holidays per year.

Position Overview:

The Hospice Support Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of Tri-Cities Chaplaincy’s hospice and palliative care team. This role manages the intake and admission process for new patients, conducts comprehensive assessments, and develops timely, individualized care plans. The RN provides both in-person and telephonic triage to evaluate patient needs, determine appropriate levels of care, and ensure effective coordination with families, healthcare providers, and community partners.

In addition to triage, admissions, and intake responsibilities, this role delivers skilled in-home hospice nursing care, including symptom and pain management, patient and caregiver education, and emotional support for individuals facing end-of-life challenges. The Hospice Support RN collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care in homes and facilities. This position also supports relationship-building with referral sources and participates in community outreach to enhance awareness and accessibility of hospice and palliative care services. This multifaceted role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and compassionate communication to support patients and families throughout their end-of-life journey.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associate Degree in Nursing.

2. Unrestricted Registered Nurse Licensure in Washington State

3. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as driving is an essential function of this role. Must meet insurance eligibility requirements.

4. Must have reliable transportation and the ability to independently drive within Tri-Cities Chaplaincy’s service areas to provide in-home patient and family services and support in clients' homes, facilities, and community locations

5. Moderate computer skills.

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

7. Available to work on-call a minimum of two-holiday shifts per year.

8. This position is designated as safety-sensitive and will require passing pre-employment drug testing, which includes cannabis testing in WA State.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

2. Bilingual in Spanish with the ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

Compensation

Hiring Range: $37.67/hour - $57.22/hour

Hiring Range: The starting pay range offered to new hires, depending on experience and qualifications.

At Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, we carefully establish pay ranges for our positions by taking various factors into account, including education, certifications, knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. These ranges are tailored to match the diverse programs and services we offer. Our goal is to ensure fair compensation for candidates based on these factors while maintaining internal peer equity.

· Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

2. Community Outreach: Participate in education and outreach activities to promote agency programs, including hospice care, advanced planning, and bereavement services.

3. Policy Compliance: Maintain knowledge of and comply with agency policies, procedures, and practices.

4. Confidentiality: Protect patient and agency information per HIPAA guidelines. Only access information on a need-to-know basis.

5. Transportation: Maintain reliable personal transportation. Maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance per state requirements.

6. Health Requirements: Satisfy state and agency health requirements by providing proof of immunization, declinations, or approved accommodations as applicable.

7. Screenings: Pass criminal background and drug screenings.

8. Physical Demands: Meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.(see attached physical requirements)

9. Training and Orientation: Complete agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.

10. Continuing Education: Complete ongoing education, policy reviews, and training be designated deadlines.

11. Licensure and Certification: Maintain current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role.

12. Language Proficiency: Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

13. Work Availability: Be available to work as assigned or scheduled.
