Certified Surgical Technologist (CVOR)
What You’ll Do
As a CV Technologist Certified, you’ll play an essential role in supporting cardiovascular surgical procedures and ensuring a safe, efficient, and sterile operating room environment. Working under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse, you’ll use your specialized surgical knowledge and technical skills to support invasive procedures and promote patient safety.
- Assist with cardiovascular surgical procedures by performing the technical and physical functions required of a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Prepare and maintain the operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies to support safe and effective surgical procedures.
- Apply knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment.
- Utilize knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, equipment, and technology to support the surgical team.
- Operate healthcare equipment safely and effectively using appropriate technical and cognitive skills.
- Ensure equipment and surgical supplies are properly prepared and available for procedures.
- Clean and restock sterile core areas and operating rooms to maintain readiness for surgical procedures.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, surgical staff, patients, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Remain professional and adaptable when communicating and working in a variety of emotional and high-pressure situations.
- Maintain a strong focus on patient safety, teamwork, and quality throughout all surgical procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) or Surgical Technologist (ST) program.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in Surgery as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required.
- Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
- Employees hired into the position as of January 1, 2016, are required to obtain certification within six months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, and operating room practices.
- Ability to safely operate and utilize healthcare equipment and surgical technology.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.
- Ability to read, write, speak, hear, and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Pay & Differentials
- $28.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience
