About This Position
Job Summary: Coordinate, expedite and review oncology patient’s social determinants of health (SDOH). Complete transportation referrals to address barriers for Oncology Patients across the Oncology Service Line. Regularly identify and establish relationships with various patient resources throughout the community. Work with clinical team to complete requested FMLA/STD paperwork. Coordination, onboarding and support of clerical staff for the Oncology Program. Assist with weekly tumor conference preparation. Additional projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Medical Assistant with at least two years of experience. Associate’s degree required. Must have and maintain current credentialing with American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA-CMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT-RMA), National Center for Competency Training (NCCT-NCMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA-CCMA), National Healthcare Workers Association (NHCWA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA) or National Certification Medical Association-Registered Clinical Medical Assistant Specialist ( NCMA-RCMA). At least 3 years of proven work experience as a Registered Medical Assistant, Patient Advocate, Patient Navigator and/or Coordination of Community Resources preferably in Oncology. Candidate must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and multi-task. Broad knowledge of community health concepts, services, and resources. Must have strong organizational skills with initiative, and creativity. Knowledge of medical terminology is required. Excellent communication, networking, and customer service skills required. Proficient use of Word and Excel is required. Completion of patient navigation course within 3 months of hire (George Washington University, American Cancer Society (LION program). Competency-based training /Education as required by Oncology Service Line Leadership.
