About the Role:
The 2nd Shift, Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-2:30am, Forklift Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within the warehouse during the afternoon and evening hours. This position is responsible for operating forklifts to load, unload, and transport goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting overall warehouse operations. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and damage to products. The forklift driver will collaborate closely with warehouse team members and supervisors to meet production and shipping deadlines. Ultimately, this position contributes to the smooth flow of goods, supporting customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license as required by OSHA standards.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or industrial setting.
- Ability to work the 2nd shift schedule reliably and punctually.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels, complete logs, and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials as required by the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in material handling.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
- Additional certifications related to warehouse safety or equipment operation.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently during the 2nd shift.
- Load and unload materials from trucks, shelves, and storage areas according to company procedures.
- Inspect forklifts daily to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movement and assist with cycle counts as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and participate in safety training sessions to promote a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to organize and optimize storage space and workflow.
- Assist with general warehouse duties such as packing, labeling, and staging orders for shipment.
Skills:
The required skills such as forklift operation and safety compliance are essential for daily tasks involving the movement and handling of materials, ensuring both efficiency and accident prevention. Basic literacy and numeracy enable the driver to accurately read labels, complete documentation, and follow operational instructions.
