About This Position

Position Description:

The Collections Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management and collection of past-due consumer and commercial loan accounts. This position focuses on early-stage through advanced delinquency, borrower outreach, documentation, and coordination with Loan Officers, Government Finance Originators, Credit Risk, and Legal Counsel to ensure timely resolution of delinquent accounts and compliance with Bank policies and applicable regulations.

We currently have a full-time position available Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Wages start at $50,000 - 70,000 per annum based on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Delinquency Monitoring & Outreach:
Monitor daily and monthly past-due loan and credit card reports (30+, 60+, 90+ days)
Contact borrowers via phone, email, and written correspondence to obtain payment, establish repayment plans, or cure delinquencies
Document all collection efforts accurately and consistently in the Banks loan servicing system

Collections Process Execution:
Prepare and send Right-to-Cure notices, demand letters, and follow-up correspondence in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with Loan Officers and Government Finance Originators prior to borrower contact when required
Track borrower responses and escalate unresolved accounts according to established timelines

Charge-Off & Recovery Support:
Assist Credit Risk, Loan Officers and Government Finance Originators with loan and credit card charge-off preparation, including required forms and documentation
Coordinate with approved third-party collection agencies once internal collection efforts are exhausted
Maintain supporting documentation for loan loss reserve and charge-off discussions

Legal & Compliance Coordination:
Work closely with internal staff and external legal counsel on foreclosure, bankruptcy, repossession, and judgment support activities
Ensure all collection actions comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policy
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all borrower interactions

Reporting & Administrative Support:
Prepare routine reports for management related to delinquency trends, collection activity, and high-risk accounts
Maintain organized electronic and physical files for all accounts in collections
Support audits, exams, and internal reviews by providing requested documentation

Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School Graduate or GED required; Associates or undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field preferred.
25 years of experience in bank collections, loan servicing, consumer lending support, or credit administration
Experience with delinquent loan accounts, borrower communications, and documentation strongly preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to handle difficult borrower conversations professionally
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to follow established procedures and escalation paths
Working knowledge of loan servicing systems and Microsoft Office products
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Loan Officers, Government Finance Originators, Credit Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Able to view a computer screen for long periods of time
Must be able to speak and listen clearly both in person and on the phone
Fine visual acuity to read for accuracy
This job may require lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently
