About This Position
MCH Scholar Program Summary
The MCH Scholar Program is a student loan forgiveness program providing educational assistance to students pursuing healthcare-related degrees in specified areas of workforce need. With this program, students can receive loaned scholar funding to help with expenses while going to school for a qualifying clinical degree for a high-need field. To be eligible to apply, students must be accepted and actively enrolled in an accredited college or university’s healthcare degree program and beginning the degree-specific curriculum courses (i.e. this does not include the general acceptance to the school or courses considered as general education or prerequisites that are taken prior to beginning the accepted degree program).
The amount of loaned educational assistance is dependent upon the degree program and institution the student is attending. This money would be disbursed to the student during the time that the student is actively attending the degree program, and the money can be used at the student’s discretion towards expenses that will benefit the student while going through the degree program.
After completion of the application and interview processes, those selected as a Med Center Health Scholar will sign a contract agreeing to work for Med Center Health for a specified period upon graduation in a full-time licensed position. The length and terms of this work commitment are based on the amount of funding received. During the designated work commitment period following graduation, the loan is eligible to be forgiven and therefore will be forgiven in pro-rated amounts each pay period worked. IRS regulations require these funds to be taxed as they are forgiven.
