Job Title: Certified Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Facility

Position Summary
The Certified Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing specialized assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic wounds within a correctional healthcare setting. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based wound care while collaborating with medical providers and nursing staff to promote optimal healing outcomes.

The Wound Care RN serves as a clinical resource and educator, supporting staff in best practices and maintaining compliance with healthcare standards, infection control protocols, and facility policies..

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive wound assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Provide treatment for acute, chronic, and complex wounds, including pressure injuries, ulcers, and surgical wounds
• Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as needed
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Ensure proper documentation of wound assessments, treatments, and outcomes
• Educate nursing staff on wound care best practices, prevention strategies, and treatment protocols
• Implement and monitor infection control practices related to wound care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintain inventory and proper use of wound care supplies and equipment
• Provide patient education on wound care and prevention when applicable
• Respond to clinical concerns related to skin integrity and wound management

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)
• Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWCN, or equivalent) required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with wound care experience preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Experience in correctional healthcare, long-term care, or acute care preferred
• Strong knowledge of wound care protocols, infection control, and skin integrity management
• Excellent clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and security clearance
