About This Position

Description:

The Nurse Supervisor provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for the triage and clinic nursing teams. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through effective supervision, coordination, and performance management of nursing staff. The Nurse Supervisor plays a key role in daily clinic operations, triage protocols, patient flow optimization, compliance with regulatory standards, and staff development. This position requires a strong clinical background, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with providers, clinic leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements:

Leadership and Supervision

· Supervise, mentor, and support triage nurses, clinic RNs/LPNs/MAs to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care delivery.

· Oversee daily nursing assignments and workload balancing to optimize clinical flow and patient access.

· Collaborate with nurse manager to conduct regular team huddles, 1:1 check-ins, and annual performance evaluations.

· Foster a positive work environment that supports staff engagement, accountability, and professional growth.

· Serve as the first point of escalation for clinical staff issues and triage-related concerns.

Clinical Oversight and Triage Management

· Ensure triage nurses assess patient symptoms and needs using established clinical protocols.

· Oversee urgent and emergent call workflows to ensure timely and appropriate response and escalation.

· Collaborate with providers on complex triage cases, care coordination, and patient follow-up.

· Monitor adherence to triage documentation standards, HIPAA, and nursing protocols.

· Assist with direct patient care as needed during high volume or staff shortages.

Operational and Administrative Responsibilities

· Oversee clinic nursing workflows including rooming, patient prep, procedures, testing, and provider support.

· Partner with scheduling and front desk teams to optimize patient flow and reduce wait times.

· Monitor staffing levels, approve schedules, and coordinate coverage for PTO, sick calls, or training days.

· Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and triage protocols.

· Monitor nursing supply utilization and ensure equipment and resources are available and maintained.

Compliance, Quality, and Safety

· Ensure all nursing activities comply with federal, state, and clinic regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.

· Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and incident reviews.

· Maintain competency records, continuing education documentation, and ensure staff certifications remain current.

· Support implementation of evidence-based best practices and clinical guidelines.

Education and Staff Development

· Onboard, train, and mentor new nursing team members.

· Identify learning gaps and coordinate in-services, skills labs, and continuing education opportunities.

· Promote a culture of professional growth, accountability, and high performance.

· Support staff in meeting competency checklists and orientation requirements.

Patient and Provider Support

· Ensure patients receive timely education and support regarding their conditions, procedures, and treatment plans.

· Monitor and resolve patient concerns escalated from nursing staff.

· Work closely with providers to anticipate and address clinical needs to enhance clinic efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Required Skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.

· Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities to assess patient needs rapidly.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

· Attention to detail in gathering and documenting patient information accurately.

· Proficiency in using medical software and electronic health record systems.

· Empathy and compassion to provide emotional support to patients and families.

· Strong organizational skills and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

· Current RN license in the State of Nebraska.

· Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.

· Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.

· Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in ENT, E.R., or Pediatrics.

· Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.

· Previous experience in Telephone Triage preferred.

· Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and medications.

Knowledge of medical laws and regulations, including HIPAA and patient privacy laws.
