Job Summary

The Public Areas Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all interior and exterior public areas of the hotel, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms, and back-of-house areas. This position helps ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees by following hotel and company cleanliness standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain hotel public areas, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairwells, meeting room foyers, and other assigned spaces.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and decorative items.

  • Clean and restock public restrooms (toilet paper, soap, paper towels, tissues, etc.) following proper sanitation procedures.

  • Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas.

  • Clean glass doors, windows, mirrors, and other surfaces in public areas.

  • Ensure entrances, walkways, and high-traffic areas are clean, dry, and free of debris or safety hazards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of back-of-house corridors, service elevators, and housekeeping storage areas.

  • Respond quickly to spills, breakages, and other cleaning emergencies in public areas.

  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of meeting rooms and event spaces when requested (moving chairs, tables, and equipment).

  • Refill and organize housekeeping carts and closets with supplies as needed.

  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual situations to the supervisor immediately.

  • Provide basic assistance to guests (directions, answering simple questions) in a friendly and professional manner, referring them to the front desk when needed.

  • Follow all safety, security, and sanitation policies, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or management.
