About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Associate of AML Investigations to support the detection, review, and escalation of potentially suspicious activity across our customer base. This role sits within the second line of defense and focuses on investigating transaction alerts, identifying financial crime risks, and ensuring AML controls are applied consistently and effectively. You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy on day-to-day casework while escalating higher-risk or complex matters as needed.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Associate of AML Investigations to support the detection, review, and escalation of potentially suspicious activity across our customer base. This role sits within the second line of defense and focuses on investigating transaction alerts, identifying financial crime risks, and ensuring AML controls are applied consistently and effectively. You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy on day-to-day casework while escalating higher-risk or complex matters as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Investigate transaction monitoring alerts and other risk signals to identify potentially suspicious activity
- Conduct end-to-end case reviews, including analyzing customer behavior, transactional patterns, and relevant risk indicators
- Determine when activity warrants escalation and support the preparation of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or equivalent regulatory filings
- Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) in support of investigations, including gathering and assessing additional customer information
- Document investigative findings clearly, ensuring decisions are well-supported and aligned with internal policies and regulatory expectations
- Escalate high-risk or complex cases to Compliance leadership with clear rationale and supporting evidence
- Partner with Compliance, Product, and Operations teams to improve transaction monitoring rules, workflows, and investigative processes
- Track and report on investigation outcomes, identifying trends, typologies, and emerging risks
- Support ongoing refinement of AML controls to improve detection accuracy and operational efficiency
What You Bring to the Table
- 3+ years of experience in AML investigations, transaction monitoring, or financial crime compliance within financial services or fintech
- Hands-on experience reviewing alerts and conducting investigations in a production environment
- Familiarity with AML typologies (e.g., structuring, layering, fraud, sanctions evasion) and red flag indicators
- Experience with SAR drafting or contributing to regulatory reporting processes is strongly preferred
- Understanding of KYC/CDD/EDD concepts and how they inform investigative decision-making
- Experience in payments, money movement, or similar high-velocity transaction environments is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large volumes of data into clear, defensible conclusions
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple investigations simultaneously
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate appropriately within defined guidelines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfort operating within a compliance and regulatory framework
