About This Position
Job Summary:
Manages, directs, coordinates, and monitors procedures and controls within the Payroll Department. Assists with internal and external communication regarding payroll. Maintains General Ledger interface, prepares allocation journal entries, assigns new departments, earnings, and deduction codes, and reviews bi-weekly payroll for accuracy. Ensures regulatory compliance. Manages year-end processing and bonus payroll processing.

Major Job Responsibilities/Job Duties:
Manages, directs, and coordinates the daily operations in the Payroll Department to ensure that daily and monthly functions are accomplished by assigned deadlines.
Assists in communications with internal and external customers regarding payroll-related questions. Handles escalations from the payroll team.
Monitors and reviews written procedures and controls within the Payroll Dept to ensure efficiency in job functions and internal controls. Oversees bi-weekly review, sign-off, and export of hours data from UKG WFM time and attendance system to ADP. Completes System A processes to create an import file of bi-weekly Steak Advisor commissions.
Reviews bi-weekly payrolls for accuracy, including garnishments, special compensation, and misc pay elements, prior to final submission to ADP.
Reviews reconciliation of bi-weekly ADP YTD accumulators to Payroll gross earnings, deductions, hours, and taxable earnings, completed by Payroll Administrator.
Leads year-end payroll activities, including annual balancing, W-2 review and distribution, and preparation of year-end reports. Manages the processing of out-of-cycle year-end and bonus payrolls. Sets up annual meeting with ADP to review requirements of out-of-cycle payroll.
Maintains General Ledger interface mapping of accounts and processes uploads from ADP to JDE of GL transactions.
Prepares payroll-related general ledger account reconciliations and prepares journal entries for allocations, including PTO accruals and payroll allocations. Follows up on outstanding items.
Researches payroll tax issues and agency notices. Coordinates with ADP personnel and/or state agencies to resolve state payroll tax balances.
Configures UKG data profiles for team members. Troubleshoots and resolves UKG system issues. Oversees daily UKG integrations to ensure data accuracy. Manages and processes UKG hours file reporting, including specialized files for the Director, Business Finance.
Completes required misc. tax filings, including monthly zero-tax filings and quarterly filings (such as NV Modified Business Tax). Submits required monthly reporting, including Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reporting.
Assigns and sets up department, earnings, and deduction codes on ADP and coordinates with ADP to establish standardized QTD and YTD accumulators across all company codes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
4- year college degree or equivalent
Business Administration
5-7 years experience with a multi-state payroll department. Management experience preferred.
Experience with federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
PC knowledge, including Excel and Wordmust be proficient in Excel.
Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal and team skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of employees while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities.
Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and frequent interruptions.
