Job Summary
The Lead Operator is responsible for directing daily production activities, ensuring quality and output goals are met, and serving as a key liaison between operators and supervisors. Provides hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to the team while driving process improvements and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead daily production floor activities to ensure on-time delivery, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Support production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow coordination across shifts or lines.
- Monitor and evaluate operator performance, providing coaching and guidance to drive team productivity and development.
- Mentor and train team members, supporting onboarding and ongoing training initiatives.
- Perform line audits, complete ERP transactions, and review traceability and production documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support troubleshooting activities and assist with minor equipment maintenance or process adjustments.
- Collaborate with Engineering and other departments to implement process improvements and resolve unusual production issues.
- Enforce adherence to all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and quality standards; address compliance concerns promptly.
- Provide leadership and decision-making support in the absence of supervisors.
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Job Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 4+ years of related manufacturing or production experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills preferred.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team while maintaining hands-on involvement in production tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address complex or unusual issues without existing instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs as needed.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building abilities.
- Willingness to work in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment, if required.
