Family Medicine Resident Physician
Position Summary:
The Resident Physician’s primary responsibility is to participate in the Family Medicine Residency program in order to become a Board Certified competent and compassionate family physician.
Responsibilities:
- In the course of this training, cares for patients under the supervision of attending physicians in the inpatient and outpatient setting
- Exhibits manual dexterity to perform common inpatient and outpatient procedures, history and physical exams, uses a keyboard and writes legibly, with reasonable accommodations
- Responsible for a variety of tasks that leads to a high level of patient satisfaction
- Relies on education and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Gathers and synthesizes data in a timely fashion, responds to tasks, patient care items, and emails daily, working in alignment with program policy
- Completes and passes USMLE parts II and III
- Participates in an equitable call schedule
- Receptive and responsive to evaluation and feedback in all its forms
- Participates in and satisfactorily completes all required rotations and curriculum as determined by the Program Director
- Maintains ability to commute to rotational sites up to 50 miles in distance
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, families and co-workers
- Duties to be performed in alignment with the vision and values of the organization
- Demonstrates compassion, integrity, and respect for others
- Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to a diverse patient population, including but not limited to; race, culture, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, ability/disability, ethnicity, age, gender, and religion
- Regular and predictable attendance at all work assignments
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of all units assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate of Medicine (MD / DO/MBBS)
- Certification required in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) as issued by American Heart Association – will be offered during orientation and certification must be received by the start of the first rotation. Certifications must be kept updated and renewed accordingly for years one, two and three. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for year one and two residents is required
- State of Idaho medical license required for advancement to 3rd year
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical and office setting
- Kootenai Health operates 24 hours per day, each day of the year, operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
