About This Position

Director of Advancement

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports To: President & CEO

Summary: Work with the Community Foundation staff, Board, Fund Advisors, and other constituents to successfully implement the development plan of the Community Foundation that is focused on the stewardship of current donors and the attraction of new donors to enhance the quality of life of residents in the Fox River Valley community and beyond by providing grants and scholarships and increased connections with causes that matter. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following, in addition to other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.

Primary Responsibilities:

Identify new donors and intermediaries to secure outright and/or planned gifts to the Community Foundation.

· Develop new relationships with individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses throughout the service area of the Community Foundation.

· Work with Community Foundation staff to research and manage prospects for relationships with the Foundation.

· Serve as a liaison for professional advisors (attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, and other intermediaries and agents of wealth). Individually connect with and host events for professional advisors to identify opportunities for current charitable connections and legacy gifts.

· Host donor prospect events outlining services available at the Community Foundation and needs of the community, including fund development, donations to existing funds, legacy giving, etc.

Steward and Cultivate Current Donors

· Develop and coordinate a stewardship plan that fosters relationships with current donors to the Community Foundation.

· Facilitate fund advisor educational informational series and social events.

· Provide opportunities for donors to give feedback on the Community Foundation’s services.

· Identify opportunities to recognize donors for their commitment to the Community Foundation and support of the community.

· Assist in engagement activities for the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and Presidents Council.

Advance the organization in the community.

· Work with the Community Foundation staff to plan and implement successful educational, engagement, and other activities for various constituents.

· Work with the Community Foundation staff to develop materials that will market the services of the Foundation and demonstrate the benefits of philanthropy for current and prospective donors and the community at large.

· Present information on the benefits of the Community Foundation to the local community through networking and social groups and one-on-one meetings in person or by video or phone.

· Represent the Community Foundation and discuss opportunities for collaboration and engagement with various stakeholders in the community.

Administration:

· Prepare information materials for various constituents on the services of the Community Foundation.

· Maintain records in the Community Foundation’s software on all prospects and donors.

· Provide support to Community Foundation staff and Board as it relates to asset development opportunities.

· Provide ongoing reports to committees, board members, and other constituents.

The Community Foundation is a collection of individual funds and resources given by local citizens to enhance and support the quality of life in the Fox River Valley. Community Foundation funds are used to provide grants to non-profit organizations and scholarships to area students to enhance the quality of life of residents in the Fox River Valley area and beyond. The Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity that allows individuals, businesses, and other non-profit organizations to establish permanent endowments and temporary funds within the confines of one large foundation.

Compensation & Benefits

The Community Foundation provides a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications, including vacation time, health, dental, and vision insurance, and a matching 403(b) deferred compensation package.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This job operates in an office setting. The employee must be able to sit and/or stand for up to eight (8) hours a day and exert up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the client relationship management sector.

2. Experience working on planned gifts and with professional advisors Highly organized and creative, with extreme attention to detail.

3. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with great customer service skills.

4. Proficient typing and computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and fundraising software.

5. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to the increasing demands of a growing organization.

6. Ability to work in a high-paced, team environment, collaborating with and supporting other staff as needed.

7. Willingness to work some evenings and weekends

8. Bachelors Degree Required.
