About This Position


Job Summary
The Production Shift Lead facilitates workflow on the production floor and ensures all personnel receive proper training. This position will require hands on inspection with metal stampings, weldments, and assemblies. The Production Shift Lead will ensure the conformance of the parts produced to customer specifications and expectations.

Qualifications
To achieve success, a Production Shift Lead should possess the following minimum requirements, knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Education and Experience: High school diploma required. 1 to 3 years supervisory training and/or experience. OSHA training required.

Comprehension/Communication skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, production schedules, customer orders, quality documents, and blueprints. Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build a cohesive team.

Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; read and interpret blueprints required.

Reasoning Ability: Understands written, verbal and diagrammed instructions and give clear direction to all team members.

Duties & Responsibilities
Follows all safe work procedures and general plant rules while performing the job and ensure all associates are also following these guidelines.
Facilitates workflow to make sure customer orders are complete and on time.
Oversees training of all personnel and maintains training records.
Maintains and controls inventory levels.
Measures and inspects metal stampings, weldments, and assemblies for conformance.
Utilizes surface plates and other inspection tools to provide dimensional data on parts.
Operates CMM for dimensional data and performance studies.
Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
Tests parts for hardness and inspects parts for flaws.
Inspects, adjusts and verifies accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments for conformance to specifications.
Examines defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommends changes or modifications.
Interprets prints and specifications.
Conducts first run, in-process and final inspection of parts and assemblies.
Uses tools and gages to inspect parts as needed.
Assists in APQP and PPAP process.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Maintains a high level of quality.
Must be Certified Forklift Operator.
Other duties as required.

Physical Demands
Ability to talk, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel.
Ability to frequently walk or stand for long periods of time for up to 10 hours a day.
Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, crawl, or kneel.
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. If greater than 50 lbs, will require assistance or the use of lifting equipment.
