EVS is seeking a VoIP Maintenance System and Database Administrator – Systems Administrator III. The VoIP Systems Administrator is responsible for administering, monitoring, maintaining, and securing the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructure supporting the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). This position provides advanced systems administration support for Unified Communications (UC) systems, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM), VoIP databases, servers, gateways, and associated enterprise telecommunications infrastructure. The Systems Administrator ensures system availability, cybersecurity compliance, configuration management, and operational continuity in support of mission-essential communications services.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer, maintain, monitor, and secure enterprise VoIP infrastructure and Unified Communications (UC) systems.
• Manage Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM), VoIP servers, databases, gateways, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and related telecommunications systems.
• Perform system administration tasks including account management, configuration management, software updates, system backups, and recovery operations.
• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot VoIP client endpoints, call routing configurations, phone trees, and telecommunications services.
• Install software releases, patches, firmware updates, and system upgrades in accordance with Government and OEM requirements.
• Ensure VoIP systems maintain required uptime and performance standards as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
• Monitor system health, network performance, call quality, alarms, and operational status of VoIP infrastructure components.
• Maintain accurate VoIP system diagrams, configuration documentation, inventories, and operational records in centralized Government-approved repositories.
• Support DISA STIG implementation, IAVA patching, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity compliance activities.
• Manage E911 systems, call manager modules, and emergency communications support functions.
• Perform system backups, database maintenance, and disaster recovery support activities to ensure data integrity and operational continuity.
• Support interoperability and integration with VTC systems, DISA Global Video Service (GVS), and other DoD communication platforms.
• Coordinate outage response, troubleshooting, and restoration activities for Priority 1, 2, and 3 service interruptions.
• Support preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), lifecycle management, and warranty tracking for VoIP systems and associated equipment.
• Utilize ServiceNow, CIPS, CAIRS, and other Government systems to document support activities, configuration updates, and work orders.
• Support operational standby requirements, special events, CORONA events, graduation activities, and mission-critical communication support operations.
• Coordinate with Government personnel, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and technical support staff to ensure uninterrupted communications operations.
• Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotations as required.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 5–8 years of experience supporting VoIP systems administration, Unified Communications, or enterprise telecommunications environments.
• Experience administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM), VoIP systems, IP telephony, and enterprise communications infrastructure.
• Experience supporting Windows server environments, database administration, backup/recovery operations, and system monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of Cisco VoIP technologies, gateways, SIP protocols, call routing, and enterprise telecommunications systems.
• Familiarity with DISA STIGs, IAVA compliance, cybersecurity best practices, and DoD security requirements.
• Experience using ServiceNow, CIPS, CAIRS, or similar enterprise management systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and support mission-critical operations in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications (Preferred/Required)
• CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent DoD 8140 compliant certification required.
• Cisco Unified Communications certifications required.
• VMware or Broadcom certifications required.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration or equivalent preferred.
• Microsoft Server or Systems Administration certifications preferred.
Work Environment
• On-site position supporting the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA).
• Requires support during standard operating hours with participation in after-hours/on-call support rotations.
• May require support during emergency operations, federal holidays, and mission-critical events.
