Job Description

A well-established Real Estate, hospitality and private equity company is currently looking for a Payroll and Benefits Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of payroll professionals and ensuring that all payroll and benefits functions are completed accurately and within the prescribed deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and review the payroll processing for 4000+ employees across multiple locations, including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, US and with multiple unions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of 8 payroll and benefits professionals, providing ongoing training and development for the team.
  • Work with ADP to ensure accurate setup and programming for the time and attendance, payroll and benefits modules.
  • Develop and implement best practices and standard procedures.
  • Oversee the accurate administration of the benefit plans, ensuring they are reconciled regularly and accurately, and rates are updated annually.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, employment standards, and collective agreements.
  • Ensure on-time filing and remittances of all statutory deductions, pension plans, union dues, WCB, EHT, and HSCIS.
  • Oversee the daily administrative functions of the payroll office to ensure everything runs smoothly
  • Assist with CRA, WCB, and year-end audits.
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support senior management with various payroll inquiries and reporting.
  • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of PLP program preferred.
  • 8+ years of payroll experience in a complex, multi-unionized environment.
  • 5+ years of proven outstanding management, leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with multiple departments.
  • Excellent knowledge of ADP Work Force Now, Work Force Manager, ADP Run, Excel and Word.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
