About This Position

About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 11 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

About the role

DESRI seeks an experienced and highly motivated Facilities Manager to oversee facilities operations across our growing national office footprint. This role will be based in New York City and will report to the Director of Business Operations. The Facilities Manager will directly manage the NYC Office Assistant and collaborate closely with local office liaisons in Denver, Houston, and Portland.

The Facilities Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing standardized facilities protocols across all DESRI offices, managing vendor and landlord relationships, overseeing capital projects and buildouts, and ensuring a professional, safe, and well-functioning workplace environment. This individual will play a key role in creating scalable processes that support DESRI’s continued growth.

What you'll do

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

You will develop and implement standardized facilities protocols across DESRI’s office locations, ensuring consistency in workplace standards. This includes establishing preventative maintenance programs, creating centralized documentation and operating procedures, and improving coordination across offices to support efficient day-to-day operations.

Vendor & Contract Management

You will oversee landlord and building management relationships and negotiate and manage vendor contracts across locations. This includes establishing performance standards, implementing cost controls, and centralizing vendor strategy where appropriate to drive efficiency and consistency.

Capital Projects & Office Buildouts

You will lead office expansions, reconfigurations, and relocations as needed. Responsibilities include managing contractors, timelines, and budgets, as well as partnering with senior leadership on long-term space planning initiatives aligned with DESRI’s growth strategy.

Budgeting & Financial Oversight

You will build and manage annual facilities budgets, establish forecasting processes, track operating and capital expenditures, and improve cost transparency and reporting across all offices. This role will require strong financial discipline and the ability to identify cost optimization opportunities.

Health, Safety & Compliance

You will oversee life-safety systems and regulatory compliance requirements across office locations. This includes maintaining emergency preparedness protocols and mitigating operational and insurance risk exposure.

Workplace Experience

You will help ensure a professional, consistent, and high-quality workplace environment across DESRI offices. This includes setting standards for shared spaces and supporting a productive and well-functioning office experience for employees and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have an undergraduate degree and approximately 7–12 years of relevant facilities management experience, preferably overseeing multi-site office environments.
  • A strong track record of managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, overseeing capital projects, and administering facilities budgets is required. Experience developing standardized processes and operating procedures across multiple locations is highly preferred.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills, financial acumen, well-developed communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively across teams in a growing organization. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to operate independently while maintaining high standards are critical to success in this role.
  • Experience supporting professional services or corporate office environments is preferred.
  • The expected annual base salary for this position is $120,000 - $130,000, with eligibility for a target bonus of 15%. Our compensation and benefits package include variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
