Job Description
The City of Owensboro is hiring experienced Police Officers.
Excellent Pay and Benefits!
· Up to a $25,000 sign on bonus
· Competitive Salary based on years of service
(currently ranging between $60,440 to $79,458)
· Eligible for annual step and COLA increases
· Eligible for $4,429 a year state training incentive pay
· Structured Retention Bonuses
Þ 3 years - $2000
Þ 6 years - $3000
Þ 9 years - $5000
Þ 12 years - $6000
· Yearly clothing allowance of $750
· Take Home Fleet
· Tuition Reimbursement
Provides law enforcement for the Police Department and ultimately the citizens of Owensboro to ensure productive, safe, efficient, and customer oriented administration of City services using generally accepted law enforcement practices under the direction of designated management with applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
Patrols assigned beat on foot or in/on appropriate police vehicle in order to:
control traffic, prevent crime, prevent disturbance of peace, arrest violators.
May be assigned to other units as well.

To be considered for a lateral transfer, applicant must:
- have at least 2 consecutive years of paid experience as a full-time peace officer
- must have been employed as a full-time peace officer within the previous 12 months, prior to application date
- Be POPS certified and such certification must be portable and obtained without having to attend the OPD or DOCJT Basic Training Academy
