8180 - HCH NR ER SVC DPT HEALTH UNIT COORD at Sinai Chicago – Chicago, Illinois

The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) performs a variety of clerical functions in the clinical setting. The HUC interacts with both internal and external Customers and utilizes the Hospital Information System to accurately perform order entry, transcribe physician orders, and retrieve patient data. The HUC maintains and processes all medical record information. Work is prioritized with the input of the RNs. All work is conducted in a manner that supports the Mission, Vision and Values of the hospital.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Follows attendance standards and expectations: has minimal tardiness or absenteeism.
• Completes all hospital-wide mandatory educational programs; Completes all orientation requirements and departmental competency testing requirements
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures as well as department-specific policies and procedures
• Participates in hospital and unit quality initiatives
• Participates in continuing education activities
• Adapts to floating to similar units when required and adapts to changing patient assignments as volume and acuity fluctuate

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• High School graduate
• Compliant with PPD requirements.

Experience:

• 1-year hospital or clinic-related setting experience preferred
• Medical terminology preferred
