Job Description

Overview

Technical support for patient procedures:

  • Provide technical assistance for arrhythmia procedures, including implantation of arrhythmia control devices (pacemakers and defibrillators), electrophysiology studies, and arrhythmia ablations. Duties include pre-procedure planning and device procurement and coordination, gathering background patient and technical data, ensuring the accuracy, adequacy, and quality of monitoring of physiologic signals and data, gathering and storing of clinical data during the procedure including data forms for clinical study protocols, and providing necessary clinical reports after procedures. The EP technologist must act as a resource person during procedures and provide troubleshooting, access to vendor data if necessary, assess the technical quality, accuracy, and safety of procedures to include scrubbing and assisting during procedure if necessary. This position oversees the development, implementation, integration, and evaluation of effectiveness of EP patient protocols and outcomes in the Cardiac Cath Lab assisting in successful maintenance and completion of the hemodynamic log if necessary. The EP technologist may cross-train to provide case support in the Cardiac Cath Lab in roles that align with their experience and skill set.

Computers, database, and data analysis:

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to determine needs for data storage and report generation. Develop and maintain database systems for use in storing clinical data on patients, procedures, and implant data. Assist faculty and fellowship personnel preparation of data for conference presentations. Provider presentation graphics services for faculty and staff. Assist cardiology ITG support in computer training, troubleshooting, upgrading, and set up.

Project design and consultation:

  • Activities include, but are not limited to: meet with investigators, faculty, and researchers to discuss and determine needs for equipment and instrument systems. Direct, oversee, and provide instruction to technicians during construction, modification, and installation of equipment and instruments; coordinate or perform debugging and testing of systems; consulting with department leaders, faculty, staff, and researchers when modification and upgrades are needed on systems.

Responsibilities

  • RN, RCIS, ARRT, RCES, IBHRE or NASPE

  • One year of experience working in a cardiac cath lab environment;

  • Attainment of RCES within 1 year of hire;

  • Successful completion of BLS, ACLS, and PALS within six months of hire.

  • Qualifications

    • Programming data base and software familiarity with methods of scientific and clinical research
