About This Position
Assists the Director of Nursing Education to organize and effectively attain division goals and objectives that are aligned with the College’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. The Advising & Contract Specialist assists with the admissions process, clinical site contracts, and the advising of Nursing students.
Academic Advising
Bachelor’s Degree required. Experience in an academic setting and/or advising preferred. Ability to learn and use all office equipment, College Information Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and organizational skills required.
Academic Advising
- Provides academic advising to all pre-nursing students (on campus and online) and coordinates faculty advising for current nursing students at all campuses/locations of the nursing program.
- Assists students in setting academic goals offering advice regarding educational options, requirements, policies and procedures, etc.
- Completes the evaluation process for transcripts; works closely with the registrar on awarded transfer credit.
- Offers support to guide students through the course selection and registration process using the computer software system.
- Holds individual advising appointments with new nursing student advisees to discuss the advising relationship, course requirements, registration, campus services, and career options.
- Works collaboratively with the student services personnel and other college staff to facilitate student advising and student related matters.
- Participate in general advising and/or group registration sessions for nursing at all instructional locations of the program including online advising opportunities.
- Assist with community or other outreach contracts to promote the nursing program and explain the competitive admission process.
- Participate in Open House and Career Fairs
2. Establishes and maintains student files, databases and records as appropriate.
3. Completes the selective admission process for new students for all nursing program pathways and coordinates readmission process.
- Assists with screening prospective students and the review of applications for admission.
- Plans, coordinates and administers the nursing admissions exam at all campuses/locations/online.
- Proctors some face-to-face admissions exams
- Works cooperatively with other college staff to facilitate student selective admissions.
- Prepares correspondence related to advising and admissions for all nursing pathway admissions, including acceptance and denial letters. Sends out admission acceptance packets of information.
- Verifies current on campus nursing students are in compliance with ACM Nursing Program requirements (background check and drug screening) prior to clinical each semester, working with the face-to-face program faculty
4. Initiates clinical agreements for the nursing program and follows through with contract renewals. Works with nursing faculty/clinical location to obtain data for the Clinical Site Assessment forms and secures and maintains clinical agreements for all nursing pathways.
5. Attends meetings: department, All College, committee, and other meeting as requested.
6. Other duties as assigned.

- Effective oral and written communication skills essential
