Position Overview

The Trucking Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the schedules of oil tankers and spreader truck drivers to oil refineries, asphalt / emulsion plants and jobsites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Schedules drivers to transport base material from refineries to asphalt/emulsion plants and liquid asphalt products from plants to jobsites.
  • Communicates with customers about transport details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests
  • Coordinates with construction operations and asphalt facilities
  • Plans pre-determined routes and accommodates route changes as needed
  • Prepares dispatch documents
  • Maintains records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times
  • Keeps track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply
  • Reviews DOT drivers’ logs, including dispatched calls and arrival times
  • Inputs and monitors costing for trucking internally and externally
  • Works with shop staff to schedule repairs and services
  • Coordinates with fleet for all on road vehicles and truck inspectors, hours of service, etc.
  • Monitors truck repairs and maintenance schedules
  • Logs customer shipping schedules and complaints
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Highschool Diploma
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the liquid asphalt, heavy haul, or related flied.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 products, internet, etc.
  • CDL Driver’s License with clean MVR
