Job Summary:

Maintenance Manager oversees all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring the uptime, safety, and reliability of systems supporting beverage manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for leading a team of technicians, developing and executing preventive maintenance programs, supporting equipment installations, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, and experienced with high-speed packaging and processing equipment in the food or beverage sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedules the maintenance personnel to insure maximum process and product production consistent with plant objectives.

• Responsible for the ordering of parts and materials needed to keep equipment operating efficiently and maintains inventories and security of parts and equipment.

• Evaluates the performance of all maintenance personnel and submits recommendations regarding hiring, training and managing expectations.

• Reviews the condition of all buildings and equipment, noting safety violations, maintenance needs of physical plant including roofs, heating, ventilating equipment, overhead doors, and equipment preparing reports with recommendations for improvement.

• Assists the Plant Manager in the preparation of capital expenditure budgets involving buildings, processing and packaging equipment.

• Coordinates the work of the maintenance department with all other departments.

• Management of daily/weekly employee work schedules.

• Serve as an active leader of employee safety

• Serve as a leader of the facility in maintaining and reporting all production equipment and support equipment.

• Documentation of all schematics, diagram changes, and PLC programming documentation changes to keep plant records current.

• Responsible for supervision of all maintenance employees including mechanics, electricians, apprentice employees, planners and schedulers.

• Responsible for all work being performed in a timely fashion and performed properly and daily reporting

• Oversee plant maintenance budget, projects and account accurately for expenditures for each project in addition to assisting in preparing capital projects and bids.

• Responsible for developing and implementation of a predictive and preventive maintenance program; directly supervises a general maintenance crew in preventive maintenance and other assignments as required.

• Ensure minimal downtime by overseeing real-time maintenance troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Schedule and track work orders using CMMS software, ensuring accurate documentation and prioritization.

Team Leadership & Development

• Hire, train, and manage a team of maintenance technicians across shifts.

• Conduct daily shift handovers, weekly team meetings, and one-on-one coaching.

• Ensure team is cross-trained and equipped with necessary skills and certifications (e.g., LOTO, confined space, PLC basics).

Facility Systems Oversight

• Oversee operation and servicing of facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, steam, water, and wastewater systems.

• Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely repairs or upgrades.

• Coordinate facility upgrades, expansions, or new equipment installations in collaboration with engineering and production.

Compliance & Safety

• Enforce OSHA, GMP, and food safety standards across all maintenance activities.

• Maintain documentation for inspections, calibrations, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PM logs, SDS, safety checklists).

• Lead or support safety audits and corrective actions related to maintenance areas.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

• Track and report key maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, % PM Compliance).

• Lead cost-saving initiatives including energy usage reduction, parts inventory optimization, and reliability-centered maintenance.

• Partner with Production and Quality on line efficiency, CIP optimization, and sanitary equipment design.

Requirements:

Require Qualifications:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.

• Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing maintenance role (beverage or food preferred).

• Hands-on experience with filling, capping, labeling, palletizing, and utilities equipment.

• Proficiency with CMMS systems and mechanical/electrical schematics.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders/scaffolding.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs, operate tools and testing equipment, and work in tight or elevated spaces.

• Adequate hearing and vision to work near running equipment and identify potential hazards.

• Work in loud, wet, or hot environments typical to beverage production.

• PPE compliance required, including hearing protection, safety shoes, and lockout gear.

• May require off-shift or weekend work to support urgent repairs or projects.
