About This Position

Description:

Reporting to the Pastor in partnership with the Music Ministry Coordinator, coordinates and implements weekly music in accordance with the Liturgical Documents and the Revised Roman Missal for the 12;00 Spanish Mass. Recruits, trains and develops vocalists and musicians to support the mass. Is available to back up Music Ministry Coordinator for Holy Days and special occasions, including Weddings and Funerals if available and as needed. Lead and teach the congregation Responsorial Psalm and new liturgical music prior to each mass as needed. Develops a network for reaching out to new parishioners to continue to grow the music ministry. Works in collaboration with other Parish staff in scheduling and planning support for the Spanish Mass.

Requirements:

· Practicing Catholic with in-depth knowledge and training in theology, liturgy in the Roman Catholic tradition and liturgical music.

· Degree in Music or equitant experience and 2 years previous parish experience.

· Strong understanding and appreciation of various ethnic cultures, bilingual, English/Spanish required

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.

· Ability to empower people to sing and engage the parish in the musical celebration of faith at worship

· Proficiency in at least one accompanying instrument used in liturgical celebrations, or in voice and choral performance.

· Some understanding of acoustics especially as they pertain to parish worship spaces.

· Computer literacy, including facility to music programs
