Evaluation Specialist

Position Summary

The Evaluation Specialist plays a central role in advancing Westcliff University’s mission by designing, implementing, and managing evaluation and assessment activities that support institutional effectiveness, academic and co-curricular quality, and strategic improvement outcomes. This position leads structured processes for assessing co-curricular programs and partners with the Business Intelligence team to evaluate university unit effectiveness and conduct external market trends and program competitive analyses, and supports learning assessment. This position is part of the Assessment Office, reporting to the Sr. Director of Academic Initiatives and Institutional Effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical abilities, experience with Power BI dashboard design and navigation, high proficiency in data interpretation, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Co-Curriculum Assessment (30%)
  • Lead management and continuous refinement of a standardized co-curriculum assessment framework, process and practices that ensure cocurricular offerings aligned with university core competencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement by managing data aggregation and validation, analyzing results, and disseminating actionable findings and dashboards to stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary consultant for assessment methodology, delivering workshops and training to enhance co-curriculum assessment consistency.
2. Comparative Market Analysis, Institutional Evaluation and Improvement (50%)
  • Conduct external market research, including market demand analysis, competitor positioning, and program differentiation, integrating internal performance data to benchmark academic programs against peer and aspirational institutions.
  • Produce comparative reports and competitive intelligence summaries that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights to inform program development and institutional improvement strategies.
  • Guide department leaders in establishing, refining, and monitoring KPIs across institutional service areas and academic support units.
  • Partner with stakeholders to analyze performance trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop data-driven recommendations that enhance operational efficiency, service quality, program relevance, and competitiveness.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Institutional Effectiveness in communicating findings and recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

3. Learning Assessment Support (˜20%)

  • Collaborate with the nursing school to support learning outcomes assessment, alignment with accreditation standards, and continuous program improvement.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education
    • A master’s degree required in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Evaluation, Higher Education Administration, Business Analytics); doctoral degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience
    • 2–5+ years of experience in assessment, evaluation, institutional research, data analytics, or related higher-education roles. Experience conducting program evaluation and market research preferred.
    • Experience in Power BI dashboard creation and data visualization strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with accreditation processes and frameworks.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods, and experience with statistical tools and visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SPSS or similar).
    • Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, tailored for diverse audiences.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and external partners.
    • Commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a culture of data-informed decision-making.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:
    • Physical Requirements: This job requires normal physical mobility, including the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Normal hand-eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and lift up to 40 pounds, is also required.
    • Mental Requirements: This job requires the ability to read, recall, write, and understand information. This job also requires the ability to work under moderate pressure and to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Environment: This job is normally performed remotely in a home office.
